3rd Annual Southwestern States Residency Conference

June 8-9, 2017 | Westin La Paloma | Tucson, Arizona

Welcome to the 3rd Annual Southwestern States Residency Conference hosted by the Arizona Pharmacy Association (AzPA) in conjunction with our Annual Convention. This conference provides a platform for pharmacy residents to present their research projects and program directors, preceptors and residents a forum to network with colleagues. This conference is specifically tailored to Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Colorado residents but any interested programs are welcomed and encouraged to apply. 







 

REGISTRATION

RESIDENTS: $125 for conference registration without a hotel room.
PRECEPTORS: $150 ticket for conference registration without hotel room.

All residency conference participants are invited to join us for the AzPA 2017 Convention. Separate registration required. Two-day tickets (for Saturday & Sunday only) will be available soon. IMPORTANT DATES

December 1, 2016: Online registration opens
May 1, 2017: Deadline for abstract submission and conference registration
May 25, 2017: Deadline for presentation and poster submissions

June 8, 2017: Optional programming, including CE for preceptor development and networking social 
June 9, 2017: Residency Conference presentations

 

CME INFORMATION

The Southwestern States Residency Conference is eligible for CPE credit; please refer to the final event announcement for specific details. Arizona Pharmacy Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing education.

 

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do residents/preceptors need to be AzPA members in order to participate? 
No, all are welcome. The Southwestern States Residency Conference is open to all pharmacy residents, preceptors, and other interested parties (pharmacists, directors, students).

 

How many residency programs and residents participated at last year’s event?
In 2016, 70 pharmacy residents registered for the conference representing over 30 residency programs including Banner Health, University of Arizona, Southern Arizona and Phoenix VA systems. It is anticipated that more of Arizona’s 45+ programs and 80+ residents will be committing to the Southwestern States Residency Conference programming in 2017 with the intent of spreading interest to programs from surrounding States.

 

Residency programs from what states are invited to participate in Southwestern States Residency Conference?
Residents from any state, representing any program, are welcome to present their research project at this conference. However, residents from Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, and Colorado are specifically recruited. This conference is intended to provide residents an opportunity to participate in a residency conference nearby to lower travel expenses.
